Training in damp and condensation

Condensation Risk Assessment

Course Content

This is an intensive 8 hour course teaching the principles of damp investigation and remediation. The investigation process is reinforced throughout the day so that candidates leave with a full understanding of what tools are required, how those tools should be used, and how to put that learning into practice.

We take an in depth look at penetrating damp, rising damp, and the most common cause of damp, condensation.

Damp & Mould: It’s not Lifestyle

Condensation damp and mould, particularly within the social housing sector has become a huge problem, particularly since the Housing Ombudsman released their October 2021 paper, ‘Damp and Mould: It’s not Lifestyle.’ This paper makes it clear that landlords must stop blaming tenants for condensation damp and mould. In fact, this is long overdue since we have been saying for many years that tenants cause humidity but buildings cause condensation; humidity and condensation are not the same thing. Rising energy costs and fuel poverty are also ensuring that issues relating to damp and mould are on the rise.

The latter half of our course looks at condensation damp and mould in great detail. We explain the causes, the signs and symptoms and how to properly investigate this issue. We include a focus on ventilation strategy and which approach works best and outline why so many landlords get this wrong.

Course Costs

The course is offered at an incredibly reasonable price of £300.00 per attendee, a maximum of 15 attendee’s.

Thereafter, we offer a half day refresher course, which we recommend as follow up training or within 12 months of the initial training; using case studies as a tool for understanding how the diagnostic principles are applied in practice. This reinforces the damp investigation process and the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.  This course is offered at £150.00 per attendee, with no maximum number on attendee’s.

We also offer a four hour course aimed at front line customer complaints staff, which aims to give them a simple overview of damp and mould, so they are better equipped to triage complaints and provide the best and most appropriate response based on the information given. This course is offered at £150.00 per attendee, with no maximum number on attendee’s.
